Lookalike audience

ICP & Targeting
Definition
A lookalike audience is a set of prospects algorithmically matched to the attributes of your best customers or highest-intent contacts. The platform — ad network, data provider, or ABM tool — takes a seed list (closed-won accounts, conference attendees who booked meetings, demo requesters) and finds other records with similar firmographic, technographic, or behavioral patterns. Lookalike audiences scale personalization by proxy: you let the model find the pattern you would look for manually.

Why it matters

Lookalike audiences are the fastest way to scale from a known-good signal to a new pipeline. The risk is circular logic — models trained on biased seeds amplify the bias. The highest-quality seed is behavioral (people who took a real action), not purchased or inferred.

Example

A GTM team seeds a lookalike model with 50 conference attendees who booked meetings at the last event. The model returns 500 accounts that share the same firmographic profile — same headcount range, same seniority mix, same industry classification. The team runs outbound to the 500 and sees a reply rate 2× higher than their broad outbound control.

How Impossible Data helps

Impossible Data's attendee datasets give you a conference-built seed of high-intent accounts — people who traveled to an event and engaged — to plug into your lookalike model on day one.
