Hiring triggers

Intent & Buying Signals
Definition
Hiring triggers are employment signals — new job postings, recent hires, role expansions, or department builds — that indicate a company is investing in a specific function or capability. A company hiring a VP of Revenue Operations is building out its RevOps function and likely evaluating tools. Hiring triggers are particularly useful because they are public, verifiable, and directly tied to budget decisions (headcount moves require budget approval).

Why it matters

Hiring triggers are leading indicators — the hire happens before the budget is spent on your category. Most revenue teams wait for the RFP or the demo request. Teams monitoring hiring triggers start the conversation three to six months earlier, often before a competitor knows the account is in play.

Example

A sales intelligence platform tracks hiring triggers across 10,000 target accounts. An alert fires: Acme Corp posted a role for 'Revenue Operations Manager' and also listed a 'Data Analytics Lead.' Two hires in adjacent functions within 30 days suggests a new stack evaluation is imminent. The SDR team reaches out with a message referencing the RevOps buildout.

How Impossible Data helps
