Funding announcements

Intent & Buying Signals
Definition
Funding announcements disclose that a company has raised a round of financing — seed, Series A through D, growth equity, or debt. A funded company has a mandate to grow, budget to spend, and usually a board-level growth target that creates urgency to buy tools and hire teams. Funding announcements are public, verifiable, and carry a timestamp — making them one of the cleanest trigger events available.

Why it matters

A funded company is the highest-probability buyer in your pipeline. They have budget (the round), urgency (growth targets), and authority (new hires with decision power). The window is real — most Series A–C companies spend their fundraise within 12–18 months. Miss that window and the next trigger might be restructuring.

Example

A GTM data vendor monitors Crunchbase and PitchBook for funding announcements. An alert: Acme Corp raised $50M Series C. The vendor's SDR team creates a campaign with the subject line 'Congrats on the Series C — your GTM infrastructure ready to scale?' and books meetings with three accounts in the first week.

How Impossible Data helps

Impossible Data's conference datasets include company-level funding data where available, so you can identify funded accounts before or during the event for timely outreach.
