Firmographics

ICP & Targeting
Definition
Firmographics are the set of attributes that describe a company — industry, headcount, revenue, location, funding stage, and legal structure. They are the B2B counterpart to demographics. Firmographics are the primary criteria in most ICP definitions and the foundation for account scoring, territory assignment, and list segmentation. Clean firmographics turn a list of company names into a sortable, filterable pipeline.

Why it matters

Firmographics are the first filter in every scalable GTM motion. Without them, your team can't prioritize, your routing rules can't fire, and your enrichment vendor has no criteria to optimize against. Bad firmographics mean bad answers to every question downstream.

Example

A sales team at a revenue intelligence platform segments a conference attendee list by firmographic fields: only companies with 200+ employees in the financial services industry, headquartered in North America. That pull reduces a 5,000-row list to 320 high-fit accounts.

How Impossible Data helps

Impossible Data appends verified firmographics — industry, headcount, revenue band, and location — to every conference attendee record so your segmentation starts from accurate fields, not self-reported profiles.
