Warm outbound

Outbound & Outreach
Definition
Warm outbound is sales outreach to a prospect who has given a signal of interest or fit before the first touch: they attended your conference session, downloaded a white paper, match your ICP and visited your pricing page, were referred by a mutual connection, or are in an account showing intent data spikes. The signal does the warming. The outbound message then references that signal instead of opening cold. Warm outbound reply rates (15–30%) meaningfully exceed cold outbound (1–3%) because the prospect has already context for who you are.

Why it matters

Warm outbound changes the economics of outbound. A 10× difference in reply rate means your SDR team can focus on quality over volume. The constraint is finding enough warm signals to fill the pipeline — which is why conference attendance data, referral programs, and intent data are the three pillars of a warm-outbound motion.

Example

An SDR sees that 30 attendees at a conference session visited the company's booth and scanned their badge. Each gets a personalized email: 'Loved your question during the panel on data enrichment at SaaStr. Here's a case study showing how a similar team used conference data to book 40 meetings.' The reply rate is 28%. The same SDR's cold outbound to non-attendees runs at 2%.

How Impossible Data helps

Conference attendance is the ideal warm outbound signal. Impossible Data's verified attendee lists let your team skip the cold email and start with context: the event, the role, and the timing.
