Multi-channel sequencing

Outbound & Outreach
Definition
Multi-channel sequencing is an outbound strategy that touches prospects across email, phone, LinkedIn, direct mail, and sometimes display ads in a structured, time-based sequence rather than blasting all channels at once. Each channel reinforces the others: a LinkedIn connection request sets the stage for a follow-up email; an email mentioning a direct mail piece shows effort. The choreography matters — timing, order, and message continuity across channels determine whether the sequence feels orchestrated or spammy.

Why it matters

Channel saturation means a single-channel sequence gets lost. Prospects receive 100+ emails a day but only 10 LinkedIn messages and 1 piece of direct mail. Multi-channel sequences work because each channel has lower noise, and the cross-channel continuity signals genuine effort — the prospect sees you invested time, not that you ran a script.

Example

An SDR running a multi-channel sequence: Day 1 — personalized LinkedIn request with a note referencing the prospect's conference attendance. Day 3 — email referencing the LinkedIn message with a relevant case study. Day 7 — phone call referencing both. Day 14 — direct mail piece (swag or research report). Day 21 — breakup email. The sequence has a meeting-to-touch ratio of 5%, versus the SDR's prior single-channel email-only sequence at 1.5%.

How Impossible Data helps

Conference context works across every channel. Impossible Data's datasets let you reference a specific event, session, or role whether you are on email, LinkedIn, or a phone call.
